Coveris develops fully recyclable shrink film solution
Sustainable packaging solution provider Coveris has developed a new range of fully recyclable shrink film solution.
The new shrink film range Duralite R is made of 50% post-consumer recyclate (PCR) and an optional pre-consumer top-up material.
The innovation is part of the company’s ongoing sustainable commitment to offering flexible packaging solutions that are recyclable.
Duralite R shrink film range is intended for secondary applications and can be used for multi-pack of cans and bottles.
Coveris Films business unit president Martin Davis said: “The development and launch of our new Duralite R film marks a major step forward in the development of sustainable plastics for a circular economy.
“Complementing our existing range of environmental films such as our recyclable PE for direct contact, the development of a fully recyclable, recycled secondary material that utilises our own waste stream and delivers a reduced carbon footprint supports both our own environmental goals and those of our customers, as well as meeting legislative targets on recycled content.”
Offered in both printed and unprinted versions, the recyclable polyethene (PE) packs offer reduced CO? footprint compared to the existing cardboard alternatives.
Coveris prints the new durable and high-clarity film across its sites in Europe.
The company’s Kufstein facility in Austria uses 100% renewable and CO?-neutral energy to manufacture the material.
In October, Coveris invested in its Winsford facility in the UK.
