Subtle change for Atria salads
RPC Superfos has designed an injection moulded polypropylene tub for Atria Finland’s Forssan salads.
It features printed designs representing the salads inside, as well an indent on the corner of the lid.
This will replace the packaging the salad range has used for 15 years, with a subtle makeover and a lighter container to reduce waste.
Consumer studies by Atria noted that users were generally happy with the packaging they were familiar with, so the new pack was designed in co-operation between Atria, its design agency, and Superfos.
Overall, the style was not changed drastically, to comply with consumer wishes.
Janne Hautala, Packaging Development Manager at Atria Finland, said: “These products have been popular in Finland for decades, so we did not want to do anything to jeopardise its status. We were looking for an upgrade, not a complete change.”
The weight of the pack is reduced by almost 20 per cent, and Atria has reported improved functionality, including faster filling.
Hautala added: “Though we have come across some minor issues along the way, these have been solved rather quickly, and we’re pleased with the attentiveness and service which we’ve received from RPC Superfos. Indeed, we feel that the packaging supplier listens to us.”
