WRAP and OPRL form partnership to tackle common recycling goals
WRAP and the On-Pack Recycling Label (OPRL) have announced they will form a partnership to better understand how to achieve the UK’s recycling targets.
To achieve the 70% circular economy package recycling target by 2030 and 70% UK Plastics Pack target for plastic recycling by 2025, the partnership will focus on a series of aims.
These include delivering a consistent on-pack message to consumers to reduce recycling-related confusion and improving the quality and quantity of recyclate from UK households and other waste streams.
Peter Maddox, director of WRAP UK, said: “Helping citizens to recycle more and more often is crucial to achieving the targets we have committed to.”
WRAP will continue with its Recycle Now campaign, while the OPRL will be responsible for on-pack recycling messages. These will use the Recycle Now iconography.
James Bevis, chair of OPRL, said: “Maintaining and developing further strong links between OPRL’s on-pack messaging and WRAP’s work through the Recycle Now campaign and local authority communications, remains essential to delivering more and better recycling of packaging.”
