Private equity firm sells UK recycler to Imerys

Private equity firm Aurelius Equity Opportunities SE & Co. has sold the UK-based Regain Polymers to the Imerys Group, a supplier of mineral-based speciality solutions headquartered in France.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Aurelius said that the acquisition of the Allerton Bywater, Yorkshire-based firm will help Imerys expand its Performance Additives Division, which develops products from recycled polymers.

Regain Polymers is a leading reprocessor and recycler of hard plastic waste in the UK. It makes its products according to the specifications of its customers in the automotive, environmental, garden products, packaging and construction sectors. 

The product range includes polymers such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE), polypropylene (PP), talc-filled polypropylene (PPT) and polystyrene (PS), as well as other customer-specific plastics.

With €4.2bn revenue and close to 16,000 employees, Imerys delivers functional solutions to various sectors, including processing industries and consumer goods.
